There’s a lot of noise online about cold outreach not working anymore

But I’ll tell you straight
Cold outreach still works

It works for me
It works for my private clients
And it’s probably the most misunderstood strategy in business right now

The mistake most people make is this

They think cold means random

So they copy-paste templates
Spray messages across 30 profiles
And wonder why no one replies

But that’s not cold outreach
That’s lazy outreach

Just because you haven’t met someone
Doesn’t mean you get to ignore context

Here’s what I’ve learned after years of testing this

Warm them up before you ever message

Like their post
Reply to a comment
Share something valuable
Make your name familiar

So when your message lands
It doesn’t feel cold
It feels like continuation

Think about it
If someone DMs you out of nowhere
But they’ve been engaging with your content
You’re way more likely to reply

It’s not clever subject lines that move the needle
It’s attention
Relevance
Intent

But there’s something even more important than your message

Your profile

The moment someone gets a DM
They go check your page

If it’s empty
If it looks rushed
If it screams beginner
They’re gone

Your profile is your first impression
Make it count

Clear bio
Real photo
Focused content
Show who you help and how you help them
Let your page answer the credibility question before they ever ask it

Then
When you finally send the message
Do not pitch

Don’t open with your service
Don’t list your features
Don’t drop a Calendly link in the first text

Start a conversation
That’s the only goal

Instead of saying
Hi I help founders build better websites
Say something like
Saw your post about launching that new feature
I just helped a client solve a similar challenge
Curious how you’re handling [specific piece]?

This doesn’t just show relevance
It shows care
It shows timing
It shows you’re actually paying attention

That’s how cold turns warm
And conversations turn into deals

Cold outreach works
If you stop treating people like leads
And start treating them like people

Try this
And reply back if it lands
